website blues

Making a website is hard. Apart from the technical side of things (the things that make you want to drop kick any electrical item within a 5 meter radius) there's also the design and layout affair to contend with. This is where paying someone else can really pay off, but if you low on funds like me it's time to get to work.

At it's current state Teahab has been through many different layouts and multitude of banners and backgrounds. I've tried super professional, DIY, I've stolen ideas from other sites and compared myself to every one, but I think I finally understand where I'm going wrong.

I am not a web designer

... yes I've known this from the start, but I've been trying to do the things other website can, and I can't. so I'm taking everything back to the basics.

If anything it's a good thing I've spent hours designing and redesigning the site. Instead of wasting away a lot of hours I think I've finally got to grips with the programs needs...and trust me, it can be very needy. Now I can strip away the things I thought should be on my website and make something that I actually like, something different that will stand out and be interesting for me to make and hopefully for anyone who happens to come across teahab.

If you want to have a look and see where I'm at now go to www.teahab.co.uk

  1. Hi, just wanted to say I'm in the same boat and very frustrated by my lack of progress. I never dreamed I'd be trying to make my own website among all the other things that come with setting up your own business. There is just so much to learn. Enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to hearing more from you. M

    1. Thanks Michelle, It's good to know it's not just me in this boat. I usually give up 2 or 3 times a week, but I find that after a cup of tea I calm down and can get back to it! It's a long haul right?
